SR Inciardi
Published poet writing to the emotions that impact us each day through a series of books on Loss, Coping, Hope and Connecting with Nature
To all those who suffer each day
grieving a loss which cannot be restored
may my writings provide some measure of comfort
and may their purpose
whispered on each page they rest upon
provide a pact between us
and in some small measure
offer guidance or connection
through these most difficult times:
someone cried
someone was comforted
someone was renewed for the better.SR Inciardi

Readers' Thoughts on SR Inciardi's Poetry:

"Your book helped me. And I have since shared it with others who are grieving. Thanks for being willing to share your experience and helping others to navigate their own grief and loss."
Danielle Heuer, Motivational Speaker, Author, Coach"As I read through the pages of your book, I reflected on how I navigated and navigate grief after losing my brother many years ago. Grief following a tragic loss is a profound and complex emotional journey. It's a landscape of deep sorrow, disbelief, and an overwhelming sense of emptiness. Each person navigates this terrain uniquely, with waves of sadness often accompanied by moments of intense longing for what once was. "The Aroma of Thawing" and his new book, "The Aroma of Lilac" are testaments to the resilience of the human spirit as individuals find ways to honor the departed, seeking solace and meaning amidst the profound sadness that accompanies such a tragic loss".
Andy Arwari MD MS FACP, SFHM, FAAHPM, HMDC, Hospice & Palliative Care Physician and Educator"I read and was moved by your book of poems......out of grief sometimes comes an impulse to create; it is never equal to the grief; but it may result in a triumph of the spirit. Your poems are utterly authentic. They hit home."
David Lehman, Poet"This is a heartfelt written book of poetry centered around healing and remembrance."
Pam Montemurno, Regional Director of Business Development at Marquis Health Services"Our shocking losses are very different - The author's grown-up son tragically died in a very different way to my husband who took his own life in 2018. But the author’s son had two young daughters, as did Steve and I. And seeing the pain in the eyes of a young child intensifies the grief so much more. Grief is very apparent in this incredibly moving collection of hugely accomplished poetry. SR Inciardi has the ability to step back and reflect, notice the beauty in the world around him, and draw strength from nature’s powerful elements to aid in healing. I find enormous comfort in reading these words, nodding in agreement when I stumble across the stark comparisons we have both endured, and smile at the resilience and hope that can be found in the human spirit. There is a stark similarity between the evident journey through the author’s poems in "The Aroma of Lilac, Poems on Grief, Hope, and Healing After Loss" and the structure of my own book, "Daddy Blackbird", where we both move slowly and gradually from a world of horror to a place of hope."
Caroline Roodhouse, Author "Daddy Blackbird" UK"I am devastated on your behalf to read of your personal tragedy. Your sorrow reaches through my computer screen to engulf me. Profound condolences to you and your family on this unforgiving loss......May your own words offer you some comfort and offer comfort to those who are exposed to your wisdom wrought of pain".
Barbara Rabinowitz, President, Creative Solutions Consulting"I highly recommend this book to anyone that has lost a loved one. It is a thoughtful collection of poetry on the subject of dealing with grief. SR Inciardi's poetry illustrates and examines the moods and the broad array of thoughts we process as we try to cope with the profound tragic loss of a loved one. In so doing, we begin to see glimmers of the promise of beauty that remains, being reborn into something new to help heal, remember and continue on. It has helped me confront and deal with my own grief and see beyond the loss and sadness."
Timothy Hogan, President, Riverview Medical Center"As a hospital chaplain I spend most days with families who are experiencing suffering, trauma, death and grief. Families are often emotionally numb and speechless, struggling to make sense and find words for what they are feeling, thinking and processing. SR Inciardi has courageously used his own loss and grief to fuel this gifted expression in his poetry. It has brought many people the clarity and comfort they most desire in their darkest nights."

Balance
When my sense of the ebb and flow is lost
and everything I hear and everything I speak
carries only the mood of loss,
when everything is witness
to wickedness, even the warmth
of early-morning sunlight
or the refreshing rain at night,
when I know the bloomed dogwood’s leaves
are still reaching in the gentlest soothing breeze,
but all I hear are its delicate flowers
shouting in a waterfall of litter,
and when I sense the shadows broadening
but only see daylight leaving
and can recognize the familiar ground
but can only see it covered in weeds,
then my sense of this mourning time,
in the scorched moonlight burned black,
will never run its course,
after times when everything was enough
but the peaks in each of them
have vanished.
I didn’t ask for this, but I do ask now
to rescue my sense of the ebb and flow
in everything I hear and in everything I see
to continue on with a restored sense of balance.@SR Inciardi 2024
